Lolita Films was founded in 1996 by Damián París, Javier Rebollo, and Lola Mayo for the production of fiction and documentary films. Their goal is to create cinema that moves audiences while maintaining great attention to mise-en-scène. Quality cinema and audience engagement go hand in hand.
In 2016, Lolita Films produced No sé decir adiós, the debut feature by Lino Escalera, starring Juan Diego, Nathalie Poza, and Lola Dueñas.
Between 2006 and 2012, Lolita Films produced the three feature films directed to date by Javier Rebollo (Lo que sé de Lola, La mujer sin piano, and El muerto y ser feliz), winning numerous awards, including the Goya and Gaudí Awards for Best Actor (José Sacristán), the Silver Shell for Best Director at the San Sebastián Film Festival, two FIPRESCI Awards for Best Film (awarded by the International Critics), the Grand Prize at the Seoul Film Festival (South Korea), the Julio Verne Award for Best Film in Nantes, the Grand Prize at the Marseille Film Festival, the Golden Violet for Best Film in Toulouse, the Best Film Award at the AFI Los Angeles Film Festival, and the Best Debut Feature Award at the Chicago (USA) and Guadalajara (Mexico) Film Festivals.
All their productions have been subsidized by the ICAA (Ministry of Culture) and their broadcasting rights have been acquired by TVE, Canal Plus, TV3, and HBO in the United States, among other television networks. These films have also been acquired by the Film Library of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for distribution through the Instituto Cervantes branches worldwide.
